It’s time to prioritise your tradesperson website.

To conduct business and be discovered by potential customers these days, you need to have a website.

If you don’t already have one, check out our free one-page website offer on our websites for trades page.

If you do have a website, but it’s been sitting in a metaphorical corner of the internet, collecting dust, it’s time to sort it out.

Your tradesperson website is one of your business’s most powerful tools, and here’s why you need to prioritise it:

  1. To provide a coronavirus update
  2. More and more businesses are investing in their online presence
  3. Your best marketing asset may need updating
  4. To improve your credibility
  5. To improve your accessibility

Providing a coronavirus update.

Recently, your inbox has probably been flooded with a hoard of companies telling you what they’re doing to protect their customers at this difficult time.

As annoying as it is to find out that some random website you gave your email address to back in 2012 is still holding your data, companies are providing this information because it’s important for their customers.

It’s important for yours too. Customers want to know that you’re taking the proper precautions to stay safe.

Take a second to add a few words about the actions you’re taking to your website. Tradestalk has an excellent graphic for you yourself staying safe, whilst PHPI has uploaded a couple of infographics you could consider handing out to your customers.

More and more businesses are investing in their online presence

As more tradespeople get themselves a tradesperson website, the competition between you and other tradespeople grows stronger. You don’t want to get left behind! Having an up to date, responsive, search engine optimised website puts you at an advantage when it comes to potential customers discovering you.

You want to make sure your business is being found easily. Whilst customers will conduct research and poke around the internet a bit to find a tradesperson they think is suitable, there is ultimately a limit to the poking they will do. In fact, 75% of people don’t scroll past the first page on a Google search.

If your website looks unprofessional, or is buried deep in Google’s search results, they’re unlikely to conduct business with you.

Your best marketing asset may need updating

How long has it been since you carried out any maintenance on your website? Your site is truly one of your best marketing assets and just like a car, it needs fine tuning every so often, to check that it is still functioning well and generating leads for your business.

Online, your website provides your first impression for your potential customers. You want that impression to be professional, which is why it’s often a good idea to have a digital marketing agency create you one, rather than building it yourself.

You should check it over for broken links (you can use the Google Chrome Broken Link Checker extension to do this), make sure images of your current work are up to date and ensure that any contact details are current (and prominent!).

Another thing you should also check is how quickly your website load. Google’s page speed insights is a useful tool for this. A slowly loading website can be a real detriment to your business.

To improve your credibility

Because so many businesses today have an online presence, it can feel a little disconcerting to your potential customers if you don’t at least have a website.

As a tradesperson, you’re likely carrying out your trade in or on something that is very personal to your customer. Therefore, you want them to be as confident in your character as possible.

Having a website that provides an excellent user experience will do wonders to improve your credibility.

Not only does your tradesperson website provide a good first impression, it’s also a space where happy customers can leave reviews; another valuable tool in your online marketing tactics toolbox.

To improve your accessibility

With a website, potential customers have access to your business at all times of day or night.

Your website can provide customers with somewhere to look at examples of your work, provide quotes or contact forms and read up on your business, outside of hours you’re available to take phone calls.

Now take some time to prioritise your tradesperson website
